Modern home plans present rectangular exteriors, flat or slanted roof-lines, and super straight lines. Large expanses of glass (windows, doors, etc) often appear in modern house plans and help to aid in energy efficiency as well as indoor/outdoor flow. These clean, ornamentation-free house plans often sport a monochromatic color scheme and stand in stark contrast to a more traditional design, like a red brick colonial.
While some people might tilt their head in confusion at the sight of a modern house floor plan, others can’t get enough of them. It’s all about personal taste. Note that modern home designs are not synonymous with contemporary house plans.
Modern house plans proudly present modern architecture, as has already been described. Contemporary house plans, on the other hand, typically present a mixture of architecture that’s popular today. For instance, a contemporary house plan might feature a woodsy Craftsman exterior, a modern open layout, and rich outdoor living space.
